The Blessing or Symbolic Ceremony (non-legal ceremony) is performed by a Non-Denominational Minister in English. In this type of ceremonies bride and groom will have to arrive 2 days prior to the wedding date and the document provided is a non-legal document here or elsewhere.

The Civil ceremony (official ceremony) is performed by a Justice of the Peace in Spanish and translated in to English live by one of our onsite wedding coordinators. The wedding couple needs to be at the hotel 3 business days prior the ceremony (Saturday, Sundays and Mexican holidays does not count). Additional charges apply for blood tests, and translation of Wedding Certificate.

Also known as Civil Ceremony, this is the only one that will be recognized as legal once you return to your home country. Being an official event, it is conducted in Spanish by a Judge and translated to English by a Wedding Coordinator.

All Civil Marriages that take place under Mexican laws are completely legal in Mexico. Foreigners marrying in Mexico must legalize their marriage in their country of birth/residence. This is usually done by registering their marriage certificate at their local City Hall.

Translation of the Wedding Certificate has a cost of USD $199.00 and will include an additional copy of the Wedding Certificate, Translation by an Official translator and Fed Ex shipping.

The United States Department of State requires that all Weddings Certificates from ceremonies performed in the Caribbean, including Mexico, have the Apostille Seal. This procedure can be done by our Wedding Coordinators with an additional charge of USD $299. By requesting this service you receive: an extra copy of your wedding certificate, the apostille seal, and translation into English, and FedEx delivery to your home address, usually 90 business days after the ceremony (around 4 months after the wedding has been celebrated).

REQUIREMENTS

Requirements for a Catholic Ceremony:

1. Bride and Groom should visit their parish personally and present the following documentation:
1. ) Baptism Certificate updated & first communion certificate (First Communion optional)
2. ) Confirmation certificate (optional)
3. ) Four (4) witnesses that Bride and Groom have known for at least 3 years
4. ) Recent passport size photographs of the bride and groom
5. ) Authorization letter from your Bishop to celebrate your marriage in another Dioceses outside of your Home area. (Carta de Traslado)
2. Bride and Groom should participate in their parish premarital wedding course and ask for a letter that certifies the course

When all requirements have been met your parish will provide you with a letter authorizing the celebration of the wedding outside of your parish jurisdiction and certified by your archdioceses. It is important that this letter indicates the full name of the parish and priest who is allowing the wedding celebration. A donation fee to the Catholic Church of $700 USD applies and must be paid in advance through your Signature Wedding Designer.

In case you wish to bring your own Catholic Priest we need to receive the “Celebret” (Catholic Priest Credential) in order to verify if they are a Catholic Priest, USD $600 donation fee still applies.

This ceremony is not recognized as legal in Mexico or your home country. Preferred by couples already married and wishing to have a wedding ceremony, those thinking of a legal ceremony at a later date or those wishing to renew vows with their loved one. It is typically performed by a Non-Denominational, but can also be performed for an additional fee, by a Religious Officiant. Some ministers speak English and for those who do not, the service is translated to English by our professional Wedding Coordinators.

Consultations are held at the resorts from Monday to Saturday

• Weddings are performed the seven days of the week, with exception of Mexican holidays (January 1st; February 5th; Easter weekend; May 1st and 5th; September 15th and 16th; November 1st, 2nd and 20th; December 12th, 24th, 25th and 31st).

For Legal Ceremonies, please consider the Mexican Holidays when booking your wedding date as they are not considered as part of the three-day requirement.

In order to confirm the date of a wedding day and time you must:

Complete a wedding application and make a non-refundable USD $299 deposit. Email this information to weddings@lomas-travel.com and weddings9@lomas-travel.com. Once the information is received, a confirmation will be sent back within 48 hours.

Weddings must be booked at least 30 days in advance
